Long Lake (长海, Cháng Hǎi) is crescent-shaped and is the highest, largest and deepest lake in Jiuzhaigou, measuring 7.5 km (5 mi) in length and up to 103 m in depth. It reportedly has no outgoing waterways, getting its water from snowmelt and losing it from seepage. Local folklore features a monster in its depths.
Jiuzhaigou Valley is a nature reserve and national park located in the north of Sichuan, China.
Jiuzhai Valley National Park is home to nine local Tibetan villages, over 300 wildlife species and thousands of plant species including many endangered plants and animals. The most notable of which are the Giant Panda, Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey, Snow Leopard, Sichuan Takin and various orchids. The park is also home to over 140 bird species.
