The Place de la Concorde is the largest Plaza in Paris and is decorated with beautiful fountains. It was built between 1757 and 1779 to celebrate the better health of King Louis XV. Place de la Concorde is famous for the 3300 year old Egyptian Luxor Obelisk and the Two magnificent fountains. From the Obelisk you can get serene views of Tuileries Garden and the Louvre Museum on one side and Champs-Elysees and Arc de Triomphe on the other side.

If you are on a tour to Paris and you do not visit Place de la Concorde, your trip is incomplete. Place de la Concorde is one of the widely visited public squares in Paris. Place de la Concorde is surrounded by many famous places of Paris such as Champ-Elysees to the west and Pont de la Concorde to the south.

Behind its establishment, Place de la Concorde has a long history. The place was designed in an octagon by Ange-Jacques Gabriel in 1755. With Thrillophilia's best Europe tour packages, the locality was named after Louis XV and was called Place Louis XV. The eastern corner of the area and the buildings there were under the French Naval Ministry.

During the French Revolution, Louis XV was thrown down as the king and the locality’s name was changed to Place de la Revolution. After that, a guillotine was set up in the centre of the area which was the execution ground of people like Louis XVI, Princess Elizabeth of France, Queen Marie Antoinette and many more. Post that, the name of the place was changed several times and then was kept as Place de la Concorde.
